The Oldest Organ in Christendom to Play Again in Jerusalem

We are pleased to announce a major event in the history of music. On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the 11th-century organ at the heart of our project will play again in Jerusalem after 800 years of silence.

The event, hosted at Saint Saviour’s Monastery in Jerusalem , is presented by Brother Stéphane Milovitch ofm (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Terra Sancta Museum) and Prof. Álvaro Torrente (Director of the Instituto Complutense de Ciencias Musicales).

The presentation will feature:

  • The reconstituted 11th-century organ, played with its original pipes to showcase their live sound.
  • The initial scientific discoveries of the international project, “The medieval organ of Bethlehem,” led by Dr. Catalunya.
  • The first images of the future “Musical cloister” at the Terra Sancta Museum.

The event schedule is as follows:

  • 11:15 a.m.: Press conference
  • 12:15 p.m.: Reception

This project is made possible by the research program supported by the BBVA Foundation and construction work financed by Enabel.
